Who we are

DailyDutch is a language-learning app.

What data we collect

We collect the following data to run app features:

• Feedback text you submit in the app (sent to our feedback endpoint).
• An anonymous analytics identifier and event telemetry (event name and optional lesson_id) through PostHog.
• Learning progress events (languageCode, lessonID, completedAt) stored locally with SwiftData and optionally synced with CloudKit when available.
• Role-play data (recordings and session/take metadata) stored on your device.
• A custom avatar image stored on your device.
• Local settings and caches such as translationLanguageCode, speakAsAvatarOption, and dictionary caches.

We do not currently require account/profile signup in the app flow.

We do not use ads SDKs, IDFA, or App Tracking Transparency prompts.

How we use data

We use data to provide learning features, save your progress and preferences, improve app quality, and review user feedback.

When data leaves your device

Data may leave your device in these cases:

• Analytics events are sent to PostHog (EU host).
• Feedback messages are sent to https://dailydutchapp.com/api/feedback.
• Subscription purchases/restores use Apple StoreKit services.
• Listen-history/progress may sync through Apple CloudKit when enabled/available.
• Translation features may use Apple Translation framework/services.

Permissions

The app may request camera, photo-library, or microphone access only when needed for avatar and role-play features.

The app does not collect location or contacts.

Subscriptions and payments

Subscriptions and payment processing are handled by Apple through StoreKit. We do not receive your full payment card details.

Your choices and controls

You can revoke app permissions at any time in iOS Settings.

You can remove app data by uninstalling the app.

Some local content (for example avatar/role-play items) can be deleted in-app where supported.

Data security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data based on the nature of each feature and service.

International processing

Depending on the service you use (for example analytics or Apple services), data may be processed in countries outside your own.
